IL Motorsports NA Console Replacement

I haven't done too much in the way of modification to the 91 BRG. I wanted to keep it stock for a while, just so I can enjoy the peppiness of a nearly new Miata. The BRG only has 55,000 miles on it as of today, so beyond maintenance stuff and a Borla cat-back exhaust, she's bone stock.  read more »

There are nearly 1 million Miatas floating around this big old world of ours. With that many in existence there is a huge market for making them more our own. Going back to the days of the Hot Rods and souped up racers, the culture of car modification has progressed to this day to a point where there is something for everyone.  read more »

A little more ego for me!

This was pretty cool. One of my shots from Centennial Park in Nashville, TN was selected as the "Photo of the Day" at Nashvillest.com

Screen Capture of http://nashvillest.com/2008/08/19/photo-of-the-day-august-19-2008/
The shot in question is one of my black and whites, which was shot when we discovered an old steam engine parked in the middle of a park in Nashville.

We found this after leaving the Parthenon and seeing the artwork on display in that building, which is a reproduction of the Parthenon of old in Greece.

Yay... Numbah One on Google!

So I've been up for a VERY long time now. I tried to go to sleep last night, but didn't really drift off until after 1am. Then, at about 3:30am, Patches woke me up because she REALLY had to go out to fertilize my yard. I've been up ever since, running on 2 and a half hours of sleep, some caffinated tea, and a handfull of caffine pills.

So what do I do when I get to work, in this horrible state of mind? I Google myself. I haven't done that in a while, so I thought, why not. Much to my surprise, I am now the number 1 result when you search for "Jeff Lane" on Google. Holy Crap! I am finally number one at SOMETHING!

Ok... I know, big freakin' deal, but in my delirious sleep deprived state, I am very easily excitable, especially once the caffine pills start making me twitchy ;-) And to prove my newfound status as the number one Jeff Lane on the interwebs, I present to you a screen shot:

The best laid plans felled by an old nemesis

Today is or was July 4th, the day we Americans celebrate Independence day. I didn't do much though I had planned to originally. With the recent decision by the Supreme Court in the D.C. v. Heller case affirming that the 2nd ammendment does in fact guarantee and individual right to keep and bear arms, despite certain other groups' view that the 2nd is a collective right, I decided to celebrate by excercising that right a bit.  read more »

HELLER AFFIRMED!!! The 2nd Amendment guarantees an Individual's right to bear arms

America... FUCK YEA!

Today is a historic day. This morning, the Supreme Court ruled on the case of District of Columbia v. Heller. The case was brought to challenge the D.C. ban on handguns and their super restrictive rules on firearms in general, even preventing people from keeping firearms in their own homes for protection.

This is monumental because this is the first time that the Supreme Court has ruled on the 2nd Amendment broadly. There was a previous case in 1939, but even then, the SCOTUS ruled only on the specifics of that case while avoiding the bigger argument regarding actual interpretation of the 2nd Amendment.

The Amendment states: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."  read more »

Invasion of the screaming disembodied chimpanzee heads

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. This is something that some guys and work and I discussed a while back... someone has done it, and the results are fabulous!

Go to Japan, get free weed!

I've got several things going for me with this gem from the BBC. First, I suffer from a fairly healthy dose of paranoia when it comes to checking baggage for a flight. I don't like the idea that my bags are ever out of my sight, though I understand there is now way the airlines or their lawyers would ever consent to allowing me to load my own luggage (other than carry-ons, of course) onto an aircraft. But I also don't like the idea that people can just rifle through my personal effects. Things get stolen that way.  read more »

Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull

It's just after 3:00 am and I should be in bed. I'm not, however. In fact, I just got in. I stayed up late to catch the midnight showing of Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull at Southpoint tonight. I've gotta say, it was simply amazing, in my fanboy opinion at least. It has thrills, chills, laughs, action, adventure. It has EVERYTHING that makes Indiana Jones moves so great.

Before I go on, you need to understand that by clicking on the Read More link, you WILL see spoilers. So, SERIOUS SPOILER ALERT!! SPOILERS AHEAD! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE THE MOVIE SPOILED FOR YOU, DO NOT READ THIS ARTICLE ANY FURTHER!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!  read more »
