My last post had a lot to do with frustration. No, this is not a retraction, I still stand by what I said regarding the culture of oppression that is promoted by various religions, especially the Muslim culture in today's world. Let's be frank, shall we? I work with and consider quite a few people who are Muslim my friends. They are genuinely nice people, just as the majority of Christians, Bhuddists, Hindi and other religious groups. They are not the problem. They are the problem. Do you see the dichotomy?
The true problem with any religion, and this is one of the main reasons that I detest organized religion so much, is greed. The problem always stems from greed. Or zealousness. Greed and zealousness are the two main problems. (Sorry Python gang)...
Religions, like any other group entity, are run by people. And in many cases, once those people get into power, they want to maintain that power. To maintain that power, they generally must keep the majority in fear. Christianity has come up with many ways to do this. For instance, there was no Hell and eternal damnation in early Christianity. That came about later as a means to frighten the easily swayed and uneducated masses that flocked to the Christ cult into staying and doing what the leaders of the time told them to do. After all, who wants to spend eternity buring in a lake of fire? Even force has been used to keep the populous in line, as showin in events like the Spanish Inquisition, the Salem Witch Trials and even today's televangelists that claim that the Christian God is coming to destroy everything if the people do not give the church money.
Power... it's all about power. And the same is said, and even more evident in Islam. Islam, from it's very beginning has been rooted in violence. Incursions into the Roman empire lead to hundreds of years of violence between the Romans and the people of the east. Those same invaders made it into Europe, which sparked off the Crusades. And let's not forget that the Crusaders were not without sin themselves. But throughout it's history, Islam has led to nothing but the subjugation of people, the oppression, abuse and murder of millions, and that pattern continues today.
Christians learned that violence and bloodshed are not good ways to make people embrace you. Even the other religions, who have histories of their own in carrying out zelous wars in the name of Such-and-Such eventually learned that such things do not endear you to the people. Islam however, maintains that lifestyle, where a few "Holy" men stay in power, directing young men, boys, girls and women to strap bombs to their chests and explode themselves in crowded shopping centers. They sit in their comfortable locations while having their minions cut the heads off of "infidels", but are too cowardly to do the real work on their own.
They rule by fear. The majority dare not speak out because the violent minority may well come after them. Islamists have no qualms about executing members of their own society at all, and do so frequently. The various sects use any little excuse to kill members of the other sects. This cycle has been going on for a very long time now, and it may never stop. The common people, the truely peaceful Muslims cower in fear, afraid to stand up and say that "enough is enough". And until they do, things like what I posted previously will continue to happen. It will not stop, and there is nothing the rest of us can do to force it to happen, oustide of funding and pushing along an internal war between the factions and hope that the most liberal of the various factions is victorious.
