ScienceInvasion of the screaming disembodied chimpanzee headsWhiskey Tango Foxtrot. This is something that some guys and work and I discussed a while back... someone has done it, and the results are fabulous! Looking to the StarsThis weekend we did something different. I am ashamed to admit that I have lived an hour from Raleigh for 8 years now and have never really been downtown. We fixed that on Saturday. This past weekend, the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh held it's annual Astronomy Days along with the Raleigh Astronomy Club. The event involves a lot of displays and hands on projects and a couple speakers and events that highlight astronomy, NASA, emerging technologies and other related topics. It's geared toward adults as well as kids and was a blast. read more » An amazing story by Isaac AsimovSo what happens when the universe finally comes to the end? Read this story by Isaac Asimov and find out. I found this off a Digg link today and read it at work. It's a rather short story that covers the rest of human existance and answers that one burning question that we all have. I highly recommend it to every one, especially fans of Science Fiction. Crikey! Yet another death...I had a great weekend. It seems that not everyone had such a great weekend however. Google News has a list of articles covering the death of The Crocodile Hunter, Mr. Steve Irwin. This weekend, Steve was diving and took a stingray barb in the chest. He apparently went into cardiac arrest and died before paramedics could arrive, they having had to fly in from a neighboring island. read more » I was wrong about something...Many many years ago, I watched with rapt attention every single episode of Battlestar Galactica. I had toy Vipers and Raiders and would often pretend I was Starbuck or Apollo, fighting the evil Cylons to protect the last of Humanity. So you would think that I would be so very excited about the reincarnation of the Galactica on the Sci-Fi channel. You would be wrong. In fact, I only watched part of the pilot mini-series, and until this weekend had not bothered to watch a single episode. It just shook me to the core to imagine that Adama was not a grandfatherly type. That Tigh was not a jovial but serious man, and that Starbuck was not a womanizing, gambling, Han Solo type in a fighter. read more » See The Birds attack an innocent Tree! OH! the Horror! This clip is amazing. First of all, it just boggles the mind how so many creatures in such close quarters can turn and dive in formation like that, and they do it naturally. Human pilots take years to learn the skills necessary, and these birds can do it instinctively from birth. read more » |
